Keith was born in Whitehorse Yukon in 1968.
Youngest of 3, he has a brother who is 8 yrs older and
a sister who is 3 yrs older.
Keith's traditional territory is Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada.
Keith is Ojibwe of Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, like his father and on his mother's side is M'Chigeeng First Nations.
I started drawing at the age of 6.
Tracing over pictures in coloring books then coloring them in.
From there I went on to doing little doodles using pencil, pencil crayons and crayons.
As I got older art became my favorite class in school.
Have been creating ever since.
I had been using pencil til my late teens...
Then one day my older brother said I should try using ink. That way if you make a mistake you can't erase it...you have to create something new out of it. So I tried it.
He was right.
But I still use pencil once in a while.
I don't usually start to draw anything in particular. I just put pen to paper or brush to canvas and let it go. Some days I'll have an idea of what I want to create and while making one creation I'll have another idea pop into my head, so I'll start on that one as well. I usually have an average of 5 pieces in the works at any given time.
